Phoenix, Arizona suffered torrential rains caused severe flooding in the desert region.

The National Weather Service said some areas received more rain in one day, had the whole summer in 2013.

The desert looks very little rain throughout the year, so that if a large amount of rainfall in a short time, the water has nowhere to go.

Resident Kathy Mascaro said: "I've been here for 20 years and I have never flooded this bad."
