Neanderthals and humans co-existed more than thought

The story of human evolution has been completely rewritten with the discovery that modern humans and Neanderthals existed in Europe for much longer than previously thought.
Neanderthals were allegedly disappeared almost 500 years after the arrival of the first modern humans.
However, it seems that the two species lived side by side in Europe until 5000 years and met.
