A future without coal-fired power in the UK

Coal was once considered the king, but is now seen as a dirty fuel, and the government wants to eliminate coal-fired plants in the next 15 years.
Today stations generate around 30% of the electricity consumed in the UK, how can the light on when to hold them to close their doors?
