Plastic patrol: "I got the engines out of the water"

After recovering from cancer, Lizzie Carr began to recover.

The more I paddled in London, the more I noticed the plastic levels in our channels.

During his "determined adventure" in Godalming, Surrey, Kendal, in the Lake District, he photographed the floating plastic material and added to his tweets #PlasticPatrol.

Now he has developed an application that allows people to photograph the plastic pollution that marks the photograph geographically.

Through a partnership with the University of Nottingham, he hopes that the information collected will help shape government policy on plastic pollution.
