Bactons Sandmartins return to the caves after removing the net

The Sand Martens return to their breeding grounds after the network that covers some of the cliffs on the Norfolk coast has been removed.

They were installed by the North Norfolk District Council as part of a project to protect homes and businesses from coastal erosion in Bacton.

Following a public outcry and concerns from RSPB and radio broadcaster Chris Packham regarding the welfare of the birds, the council agreed to remove the nets from the cliffs.

Some nets are stuck to the cliff, reinforced with extra sand.
