California blue whales jumping in the vicinity of historical figures

Researchers believe that California blue whales have recovered in numbers and returned the population to a sustainable level.
Scientists say this is the only population of blue whales have recovered from the ravages of whaling.
The research team believes that there are now 2,200 of these giant creatures in the eastern Pacific Ocean.
