When the temple of Mithras was unearthed in London

Within a month, the 60th anniversary of the discovery of the Temple of Mithras in London, a project is for people who visited the excavation in 1954, to come forward to tell their stories and share their photos are met by the event designed .

Sophie Jackson, an archaeologist at the Museum of London Archaeology, told the Today program that it was "certainly one of the greatest discoveries of the 20th century"

She said the interest in the archaeological discovery when limited originally opened for the display of two weeks, the temple was excavated:

"It was absolutely phenomenal ... It is expected that a few hundred people who make it on the first day and 35,000 people waiting in line for half past one slot."
