In March, the Today show reported on the news that the American team bicep said it had found in the sky by the rapid expansion of the space of only a few thousandths of a second after the Big Bang left a pattern.

On today's show in March Professor Stephen Hawking has said that the result was "a further confirmation of inflation," the idea that the universe has experienced rapid exponential growth in the first fraction of a second. He added: "It also means to win, did not predict a bet with Neil Turok Son cyclic universe theory, gravitational waves from the early universe.".

However, the new data showed that the group had underestimated the confusing effects of dust in our own galaxy.

In an interview with Today presenter Evan Davis program in the light of new data, Neil Turok explained the significance of the result:

"Bicep 2 Experience suggests that 20% of those fluctuations gravitational waves, the specific signature of inflation happened from the Big Bang ... but now that has happened is that Planck came up with more data to confirm led the limit of small than 10%. "

"There I contacted Steven and said," We will refine this bet "... of course it does not matter who wins the bet," he added.
