Elephant and rhino poaching threatened with extinction

October 5, 2014 Updated 05:29 BST

The demonstrations were held in over 100 cities around the world to demand an end to the trade in rhino horn and ivory.

Activists say the elephants and rhinos could become extinct at the current rate of poaching in 20 years.

Activists say poachers kill elephants and rhinos 35,000 annually in 1000, despite the narrow limits of the hunt.

The ivory and horns often end up illegally in East Asia.
