Scientists at the University of Leicester say they may have solved one of the most enduring mysteries of modern physics - the nature of dark matter.

This is something that the difference between the observed mass of the material in the space and the form in which it is moving - which is much larger mass points.

Researchers say they have identified a signal - if confirmed - would the "axion", which emitted from stars to blame.

This is one of the candidates physicists believe the particles can represent 85% of the missing mass of the universe.

Astronomer Dr. Andy Lee, who discussed as a co-author of the research today.
