Electric cars are used to power a small Portuguese island in the Atlantic Ocean.

The island of Porto Santo has begun to test a system in which the batteries of electric vehicles are charged during the day with solar energy. At night, however, they restore the energy available in the grid to supply households.

Some experts say that this form of energy storage could become a global trend.
