Beavers were hunted and disappeared from England about 400 years ago.
In Scotland, they were reintroduced in 2009 as part of a trial and now enjoy protection status. Their appetite for destruction, however, has led to conflicts with some farmers and landowners.
An essay in Devon will be completed next year if it is decided if it will be extended to other parts of England.
