A carnivorous pitcher plant uses raindrops for energy to throw ants their fate, the researchers found.

Biologists at the University of Bristol have discovered that rain helps the plant ants "movie" in the glass case where they drown and be consumed by the plant.

The team used high-speed cameras to capture the movement, showing this short clip.

The results are published in PNAS.

A team of scientists has discovered a new species of rats in Indonesia.

The species name Hyorhinomys stuempkei - rat flat nose - a "rare to other rats different and unique properties," she said.

Five rodents were discovered in Sulawesi early January of researchers from Australia, Indonesia and the US.

"Enormous ears for an animal of this size increased body," said Dr. Jake Esselstyn Museum of Natural Sciences.

An experiment at the University of Manchester - the performance of the diesel engine in a laboratory - shows how far among the manufacturers of emission testing.

By channeling engine emissions in an atmosphere chamber, can re-create the computer, what happens when pollutants in our environment clean engines.

Dr. Rami Alfarra, University of Manchester, explains how his research team demonstrated that the engines are much cleaner when really driving that car manufacturers disclose standard tests.

The research is a collaboration with researchers of atmospheric chemistry at the University of York.

To reduce waste, England has introduced a tax on plastic bags 5p.

Scientists have warned that contamination could be done in the food chain to humans the effects of plastic waste in the marine environment.

They found small pieces of plastic in the guts of zooplankton - microscopic organisms feed the many species of marine.

The biologist Dr. Pennie Lindeque Plymouth Marine Laboratory says more.

As Britain prepares to introduce a load of plastic bags, reported science editor David Shukman about the possible threat to the food chain of plastic into small fragments divided into our oceans.

Tests that. From the Plymouth Marine Laboratory has shown that when the tiny plastic particles in water, the creatures are taken up at the bottom of the food chain

An estimated eight million tons of plastic waste is added in the oceans every year.
