Climate Change: Obama brings clean energy plan to reduce emissions

August 3, 2015 Last Updated 23:09 BST

US President Barack Obama called for his country to take its "important step" in the fight against climate change, as it presented proposals to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

Clean energy plan for the president aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from power plants in the United States by almost a third in 2030 with a clear focus on wind and solar power and other renewable energies.

But opponents of the energy industry accused him of declaring a "war on coal" and promised to fight against the regime.
