An ambitious prehistoric reconstruction open to the public on 25 April.

Grotte Chauvet in the Ardèche in southern France, contains some of the oldest and most remarkable rock drawings ever found - but been sealed since its discovery of this precious art to preserve.

Well, a large replica of the cave and its spectacular paintings were built - but how do they compare with reality?

Our science correspondent Rebecca Morelle is one of only a handful of people who can tell us after the BBC Newsnight had unusual access to the original cave.
