Fungi surfboards show that there is room for innovation

Surfer Steve Davies is on the brink of doom with his mushroom-based boards.

The 23-year-old came up with a design that uses mushrooms to create biodegradable devices.

Mr Davies, from Porthcawl, County Bridgend, admitted the idea sounded "a bit crazy" but thought it could help make the sport greener.

"Surfers want to be sustainable and better for the environment," he said.

"The products often don't reflect that."
