Sewage Pollution: How Clean Are Our Rivers?

The BBC has seen footage of what appears to be raw sewage being dumped into the River Thames in Oxfordshire. It appears to be coming from an overflow pipe connected to the Cassington Wastewater Treatment Plant, which is run by Thames Water.

Local activists believe the company is violating its license. Thames Water says it is investigating.

This week the BBC unveiled data suggesting that water companies in England and Wales have dumped raw sewage illegally thousands of times over the past four years.
